Lab News

Congratulations to our 2013 graduates! Dora Bowman, Nicole Carney, Marie Flowers, and Laura Ovadia all completed Senior Projects with Kristin Lane. Current lab member Doug Gazarian and and lab alumn Becca Bell-Gurwitz shared the Andrew J. Bernstein award for outstanding Senior Project in Psychology. Past lab members Nicole Haaser and Rose Siuta also completed their time at Bard. Nicole will intern in the Emotion, Health, and Psychophysiology Lab directed by Wendy Berry Mendes at the University of California, San Francisco. Doug is internning at the Stratus Center for Medical Simulation at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

Tina Wack and Saumya Dadoo will work in the Social Psychology lab during Summer 2013.

Congratulations to our lab alumni for their success in the National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship. Elizabeth Goldfarb, now a graduate student in cognitive psychology at New York University working with Elizabeth Phelps, received a fellowship. Jin Goh, now a graduate student in social psychology at Northeastern University working with Judith Hall, received an honorable mention.

We welcome Tina Wack to the lab as of January 2013!

Eight current students, as well as lab alumni Jin Goh, Mengyao Li, and Jenny Xiao (and Bard Psych grad Miles Conant) attended the annual conference of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology in New Orleans in January 2013. Jin Goh, Becca Bell-Gurwitz and Greta Tsolova presented a poster on implicit construals of science; Mengyao Li presented a poster based on her senior project research about schadenfreude. Welcome to the new students of the Social Psychology lab in Fall 2013 - Saumya Dadoo, Doug Gazarian, Jeremy Goldsher, Elyse Neubauer, and Stephen Wyssenski.

Lab alum Jenny Xiao's research was featured in The New Yorker, and graduate Morgan Kennedy's work has been published in Perspectives on Psychological Science.

Professor Kristin Lane has been awarded an AREA (Academic Research Enhancement Award) Grant from the National Institutes of Health. The $168,900 award will support research and student engagement through 2015.
